Everyone in the workplace has different goals and ambitions that they are striving towards. But there is a common element regarding work accomplishments — achieving tangible results from our efforts. No matter the goal, there will always be milestones representing accomplishments toward those objectives.

What are work accomplishments?

Work accomplishments are the tangible and intangible results you achieve through your actions or efforts. Tangible results can be measured and objectively tracked, such as completing a project on time or within budget, increasing sales revenue in a particular market by 5%, or meeting specific customer satisfaction goals.

Intangible results include significant value but cannot easily be quantified into specific figures like improved morale among colleagues or developing new relationships with key stakeholders through networking.

What gives you a sense of accomplishment in your work?

Most of us work with something in mind — we want our effort to lead to tangible results. Reaching promotion targets or surpassing sales quotas can give us a much-needed sense of accomplishment or purpose and make our job more meaningful. But there is also something important to consider: intangible goals.

It is often easy for many of us to focus primarily on reaching the goals that matter most for our bottom line — usually measured in money or position.

Yet, it is essential that we not forget about the softer side of leading a clear career path — those intangibles such as relationships with colleagues and clients, cultivating new skills and making a tangible impact on the workplace environment within which we operate.

These intangible objectives are no less critical than meeting tangible ones regarding career success, but they typically require longer-term vision and planning alongside immediate goal-setting tactics.

So, look at your achievements beyond just numbers or quotas met — what kind of reputation do you have among your peers? How have you personally helped positively shape the culture within which you work?

Have colleagues praised your creative ideas? Answering questions like those will provide insight into where you stand and areas where improvement might be needed (or celebrated).

Examples of accomplishments include being consistently recognized as the “Employee of the Month” amongst my colleagues for three consecutive months. This award is given to employees who demonstrate exemplary performance and exceed expectations in their work.

Managers, HR personnel, and other executives recommend a few candidates to receive this accolade every month.

After an intense review process where all eligible candidates are thoroughly evaluated on various criteria, including productivity metrics, customer feedback scores, team contribution metrics, and others, a single individual receives this recognition each month.

The fact that I was chosen multiple times in succession indicates not only the trust but also appreciation from colleagues and top management towards me for upholding high standards of quality and reliability at work.

It has been a truly humbling experience to have received such recognition, and it inspires me each day to continue doing more than what is required of me.  It also serves as a reminder that everything we do matters — no matter how small or insignificant it may seem.

2. Significantly increased sales through various initiatives

Over six months, I significantly increased the company’s sales by 25%. To meet this goal, I employed multiple strategies and initiatives. First, I provided customers with more tailored services by better understanding customer needs and responding quickly.

Second, I kept close tabs on competitors’ activities, so we could stay ahead in pricing or product offerings if needed. Thirdly, I developed new ways of marketing our products that appealed to our target audience better.
